To be responsible for the implementation of the compliance program.

Job Details

Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  1. Liaise with relevant departments to ensure compliance risks appropriate course of action to mitigate the risks.
  2. Provide compliance advice to business.
  3. Provide and interpret regulations for business.
  4. Review and advise business on internal policies and procedures. 
  5. Draft internal policies and procedures ensure that they comply with all statutory requirements.
  6. Monitor compliance with statutory/regulatory obligations and advise management accordingly.
  7. Conducts regular monitoring of compliance with legislation and policies and procedures within the subsidiary.
  8. Prepares compliance reports for management and other committees.
  9. Responds to and resolves all compliance related queries raised by relevant stakeholders, including government/regulatory investigations.
  10. Ensure that the operations and business transactions of the subsidiary follow all relevant legal and internal rules by developing and implementing an effective and efficient compliance program.

Requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience required of Job Holder

  1. Grade 12, (25 points and above). 
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics or Business Administration or equivalent qualification. 
  3. At least 4 years of experience in compliance management functions. 
  4. Experience in financial institutions. 
  5. Ability to execute effectively against strategy and exceed goals consistently. 
  6. Knowledge of country regulatory of the financial services industry and legislation related to microfinance. 
  7. Well versed in creating and implementing compliance management frameworks and policies. 
  8. Business understanding; a good understanding of business operations, processes and procedures. 
  9. Decision making; ability to make confident and informed decisions for the benefit of the company. 
  10. Effective communication; conveying information and ideas through a variety of communication mediums to business.

  • Ability to manage competing demands. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with stakeholders. 
  • Proactive and initiative-taking when completing tasks.
  • Strong project management experience with ability to partner across functional teams and communicate with technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to negotiate with all levels of management to influence decisions, make recommendations and implement change.
  • Good planning and organisational skills, and a creative and innovative approach to work.

Certifications

 

International certifications in Risk management, such as CIRM, CRCM or ICM
