Job Summary
Purpose of the Job: To safeguard and optimize the quality, performance, and compliance of the lending portfolio by leading credit assessment, portfolio administration, and arrears management across all products.

Critical Deliverables/Core Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Ensure efficient implementation and compliance with Letshego’s policies, procedures relating to credit risk, provisioning, write offs and arrears management.
2. Responsible for credit assessment of all lending products within mandated levels.
3. Oversee the administration of lending products, home loans, personal loans and overdrafts.
4. Oversee the home loan administration and collateral management function.
5. Prepare monthly credit reports to the Management Risk Credit Committee, Country Management Committee and Board.
6. Manage business continuity management for the department.
7. Manage the recruitment, on boarding and performance management direct reports.
8. Update risk registers for the department and assist HOC with risk related reports.
9. Review policies, framework and procedures.
10. Oversee the early arrears management function of the loan book when applicable with the Manager: Collections and Recoveries.
11. Provide recommendations on achieving set loan book performance and impairments practices.
12. Ensure that all loans and lending procedures comply with applicable regulations.
13. Analyze new customer’s credit worthiness.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience required of Job Holder
- Grade 12, (25 points and above).
- A degree in finance /economics or similar.
- Experience in credit management gained in Consumer Finance, retail SME or microfinance environment.
- At least 7 years’ experience in Credit Risk within Banking or Financial Services.
- Knowledge of local laws, rules and regulations.
- Understanding of credit risk strategies to maximise benefit from opportunities that arise to give some input to upside benefits to the business.
- Hands on experience with credit risk management systems.
