Job Summary

To drive the execution of credit risk strategies that optimize the subsidiary’s credit portfolios from a reward versus risk perspective while balancing capital constraints and market sensitivity to levels of non-performing debt.

Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for credit assessment of all lending products within mandated levels.
  • Analysis of financial information in preparation of credit application to make a recommendation based on the findings, within the credit parameters, to be presented to a higher mandate
  • Credit Assessor will be assessing various products namely but no limited to Home loans; Overdrafts, Personal Individual loans. (Knowledge of these products will be an added advantage)
  • Ensure efficient implementation and compliance with Letshego’s policies, procedures relating to credit risk
  • Oversee the administration of lending products, home loans, personal loans and overdrafts
  • Provide recommendations on achieving set loan book performance 
  • Ensure that all loans and lending procedures comply with applicable regulations.
  • Analyze new customer’s credit worthiness
  • Provide training on credit assessment to front line staff (sales)
  • Provide credit reports to Credit Manager
  • Review and confirm collateral position of the client in preparation of credit applications
  • Adhere to agreed turnaround times of credit applications without compromising validity and quality of assessment by complying with policies and procedures.
  • Keeping abreast with changes in the micro and macro-economic, political, legislative and social environment in order to provide proper lending advice.
     

Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate with minimum of 25 points. 
  • A degree in finance / Information Systems /Economics or similar.
  • Experience in credit management gained in Consumer Finance, retail SME or microfinance environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Credit Risk within Banking or Financial Services. 
  • Knowledge of local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Understanding of credit risk strategies to maximize benefit from opportunities that arise to give some input to upside benefits to the business.
  • Hands on experience with credit risk management systems.
